The CUHK Diabetes Care Research Group has pioneered several disease management programmes using a multidisciplinary and holistic approach to translate evidence-based medicine to clinical practice with particular emphasis on treating-to-target and patient empowerment.

Through the CUHK Diabetes and Obesity Centre, the Foundation has contributed towards establishment of a self-funded quality assured diabetes and obesity management programme to increase the number of choices of diabetes services within the community.

As from the 19 November 2002, through technology transfer between the Chinese University of Hong Kong and GenRex of the Hong Kong Resort International Limited, the Diabetes and Obesity Centre has been expanded to become the Qualigenics  Diabetes Centre. The Centre aims to provide an affordable, convenient and high quality service to patients with common chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity.
